2018 Comic-Con International: USA Network presents ‘The Purge’ panel and activation

USA Network is coming to San Diego Comic-Con this year with an immersive activation and panel for the eagerly awaited television series “The Purge.” Based on the worldwide phenomenon film franchise, the series will debut on USA on Tuesday, September 4 at 10/9c. “The First Purge” is now in theaters.

On Thursday, July 19, USA will open the doors of America’s first “Purge City” store, an immersive experience in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp District, to the public. Transporting fans into the world of “The Purge,” “Purge City” is a tongue-in-cheek, one-stop shop for the perfect Purge Night, where friendly “Purge City” staff help visitors browse the aisles for items from emergency candles to masks to energy drinks – to help citizens stay safe and awake for the 12 hours of annual lawlessness.

Shoppers can also enjoy Purge photo opportunities and browse an area dedicated to the political rise of the New Founding Fathers of America, from the first Purge experiment on Staten Island to subsequent annual Purge Nights. “Purge City” will be open for business at 215 Tony Gwynn Drive – from Thursday, July 19 through Saturday, July 21 from 11 AM until 7 PM and Sunday, July 22 from 11 AM until 4 PM.

On Saturday, July 21 from 5:15-6:15 PM (Room 6BCF at the San Diego Convention Center), producer Jason Blum and the creators of the blockbuster film franchise will come together for a special panel that gives an exclusive inside look into how they’re expanding “The Purge’s” universe into television. Cast members from both the hit new feature film “The First Purge” – currently in theaters – and the upcoming television series will also be on hand to offer their own perspectives on the world.

2018 Comic-Con International: AMC activities and exclusives

WHAT: The cast and producers of AMC’s hit scripted series “The Walking Dead,” “Fear the Walking Dead” and “Preacher” will return to this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, CA. AMC’s Emmy(R)-nominated series “Better Call Saul” will also make its Comic-Con debut alongside a reunion panel for “Breaking Bad” in celebration of the Emmy(R) Award-winning drama’s 10-year anniversary.

The network also released today “The Walking Dead” Comic-Con art along with new key art for “Fear the Walking Dead,” which returns for the second half of its fourth season on Sunday, August 12.

In addition to panels, AMC will have a significant presence in and around San Diego throughout Comic-Con, including:

· A red-carpet premiere screening event for “Better Call Saul,” featuring the series cast and producers. The Emmy(R)-nominated series returns for its fourth season on Monday, August 6;

· “Dead Quarters,” the official fan zone of “The Walking Dead” and “Fear the Walking Dead.” The immersive experience will feature a curated walk through of settings from both series, including The Sanctuary and a thrilling 22-foot Zombie slide, inspired by the one in “Fear,” as well as photo opportunities with the walker composter and Negan’s “flaming Lucille,” among other activities; and

2018 Comic-Con International: Conan O’Brien announces guest stars

Conan O’Brien returns to San Diego for the fourth year in a row with a week of star-filled shows to be taped during Comic-Con® International. This year’s roster includes the stars of the of the Emmy-winning sensation  “Breaking Bad” reuniting for the 10 year anniversary of the show, the stars of “Glass,” “The Predator,” and the stars of “Aquaman,” with more to be announced.

“Conan’s” Comic-Con® International shows will be taped at San Diego’s historic Spreckels Theatre on Wednesday, July 18– Saturday, July 21. Episodes will air that Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 11 p.m. (ET/PT) on TBS, with availability across TBS and Team Coco’s digital, mobile and VOD platforms the following day.

CBS Television Studios presents the exclusive world premiere screenings of its new series CHARMED and MAGNUM P.I. at San Diego Comic-Con. As previously announced, cast and producers of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY will beam into HALL H for a look back on season one and tease what’s ahead for season two.

“STAR TREK: DISCOVERY” PEDICABS – From Thursday, July 19 through Sunday, July 22, CBS will offer free “intergalactic” rides throughout San Diego’s Gaslamp District in pedicabs inspired by the design of the U.S.S. Discovery’s captain’s chair. The pedicabs will feature the chair’s distinctive stitched black seats as well as video monitors built into its armrests, which in this case will screen trailers for the highly anticipated second season of the show. As an added touch, each vehicle will display an illuminated U.S.S. Discovery delta shield on the back.

“STAR TREK: DISCOVERY” MIRROR UNIVERSE GALLERY TAKEOVER – CBS is creating a fully immersive STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Mirror Universe experience at the Michael J. Wolf Fine Arts Gallery (363 Fifth Avenue, San Diego); Comic-Con badges are not required for entry. The exhibit, scheduled to run from Thursday, July 19 through Sunday, July 22, will feature a photo opportunity with Emperor Georgiou’s throne and will showcase props and costumes from the series’ Terran Empire. One year after SYFY debuted its new fan-centric rebrand, the network is going big at San Diego Comic-Con 2018. With 10 panels, two fan parties, roving interactive activations, mystery boxes galore, pop-up fan awards, and branded buses, trains and gear featuring art created by fans – SYFY’s ‘Con presence is designed to be the year’s ultimate celebration of fandom. In addition, the independent genre news site SYFY WIRE will blanket the ‘Con to provide round-the-clock on-air and online coverage of all the biggest stories.

San Diego Comic-Con will also be the launch pad for the SYFY WIRE Fan Creators initiative – the next phase of SYFY’s “It’s a Fan Thing” positioning. The multi-platform program will celebrate, nurture and support the makers, artists and creators at the heart of genre fandom. SYFY will bring the biggest genre stars together for 10 official panels, including eight show panels and two panels from SYFY WIRE that dissect and celebrate genre and geekdom.

“SYFY WIRE’s The Great Debate,” one of last year’s hottest panels, will return with host Aisha Tyler and celebrity panelists debating the genre’s most hotly contested topics. Also from SYFY WIRE, Fangrrls managing editor Cher Martinetti will host “SYFY WIRE Fangrrls: Women Changing the Game,” an in-depth discussion with women leading the charge in sci-fi, fantasy and horror.

SYFY show panels include upcoming new series “Nightflyers,” the George R.R. Martin space novella adaptation, and “Deadly Class” the eagerly anticipated graphic novel adaptation from The Russo Brothers (“Avengers: Infinity War”). Additionally, SYFY will host panels for current hits “Krypton” and “The Magicians” (with Universal Cable Productions). SYFY’s epic fan parties will return to the Children’s Museum for two nights on Friday and Saturday at 9PM. “You don’t have to be a celeb to get on our guest list,” said Shapiro. “If you’re a fan, we want you to come party with us – on a first-come-first-served basis, of course!”

Nickelodeon is bringing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, INVADER ZIM and more to life at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2018 through one-of-a-kind virtual and real-world experiences that will have fans saying, “Cowabunga”! Headquartered at its 1,800 square-foot booth (#4113) on the convention floor, Nickelodeon will showcase: Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the all-new, reimagined series that follows the band of brothers as they seek to unlock the mystical secrets of New York City; the upcoming INVADER ZIM original TV movie; the return of Double Dare, a reboot of the iconic game show; the hit animated series The Loud House, which follows 11-year-old Lincoln Loud’s life with his 10 sisters; and Reptar from Rugrats, who will tower over Nick’s space.

Select fans have the opportunity to interact with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Live,” a virtual reality experience that immerses users in the Turtles’ iconic New York City world and allows them to have a conversation with Mikey or Donnie – voiced live on the scene by Brandon Mychal Smith and Josh Brener, respectively. The “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Live” experience is created by Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab, the network’s division that spearheads research and development efforts around new technologies such as virtual reality, mixed-reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence for Nick and its audience. 2018 Comic-Con International: Freeform announces ‘Siren’ panel details; TLC’s Chilli will moderate

Freeform announced that it will be bringing the cast and executive producers of the critically acclaimed, mermaid drama “Siren” to San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, July 19, to breakdown behind-the-scenes secrets and discuss the upcoming season, which begins production in Vancouver in July. Freeform has tapped the ultimate “Siren” superfan and four-time GRAMMY(R) Award winner to moderate: iconic singer Chilli, best known as 1/3 of TLC, the best-selling American girl group of all time.

Among those coming to San Diego Comic-Con include stars Eline Powell (‘Ryn’), Alex Roe (‘Ben’), Fola Evans-Akingbola (‘Maddie’), Ian Verdun (‘Xander’), Rena Owen (‘Helen’) and executive producers Emily Whitesell and Eric Wald.

The number one new cable drama among women 18-34, “Siren,” Freeform’s smash hit drama, will return to Vancouver to begin production on season two, set to debut in 2019.

In this epic tale, the coastal town of Bristol Cove, known for its legend of once being home to mermaids, is turned upside down when a mysterious girl (Powell) appears and begins wreaking havoc upon the small fishing town. Using their resources, marine biologists Ben (Roe) and Maddie (Evans-Akingbola) must work together to find out who and what drove this primal hunter of the deep sea to land, and are there more like her out there?

“Siren” is based on a story by Eric Wald and Dean White who both serve as executive producers. Emily Whitesell (“Finding Carter”) serves as showrunner and executive producer. Brad Luff, Nate Hopper and RD Robb also serve as executive producers.

Cartoon Network is bringing an out-of-this world fan experience at Comic-Con (July 19-22) with an overall immersive Steven Universe experience, an homage to Adventure Time, along with additional signings, panels and exclusive product offerings.

Inspired by the illustrious mythology of Steven Universe, this year’s booth (#3735) will greet fans with large, iconic figures of the Crystal Gems above a crystal landscape. A screen embedded in the crystal will show what’s waiting inside – the chance to be in an epic parallax scene with their favorite characters!

Kicking off Thursday, July 19, Grammy winner and voice of Steven Universe’s Garnet, Estelle, joins show creator Rebecca Sugar and her friends from the Dove Self-Esteem Project for a conversation about the importance of inclusion and body positivity that the series has been so celebrated for.

Adventure Time fans can grab their friends and gear up for the Ultimate Adventure Friday, July 20 as the cast and crew comes together in the Indigo Ballroom for its final panel. Come along and celebrate Cartoon Network’s longest running series with live music, special guests and a few mathematical surprises.

On Saturday, July 21, meet back in the Indigo Ballroom for Cartoon Network’s official Steven Universe panel, complete with musical performances, never-before-seen clips and appearances from your favorite Gems! Cartoon Network is also bringing together its hottest new creators for its inaugural Drawing on Inspiration panel, featuring creators from OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes, Craig of the Creek, We Bare Bears, Summer Camp Island and Victor and Valentino. Exclusive signing posters will be available at each panel’s respective signings. Capping off the weekend is the return of Cartoon Network’s annual Best Summer Ever Costume Ball where kids of all ages will have a chance to dress up as their favorite show character.
