Watching a New Year’s Eve special on TV is a tradition for millions of people around the world. Here’s what is planned for the four biggest New Year’s TV specials in the United States:

Celebrating its 48th year, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” (which is produced by Dick Clark Productions and airs in the U.S. on ABC) is still the most high-profile televised New Year’s Eve event. Post Malone, who performed on the show last year, is headlining the show this year from New York City’s Times Square. Ryan Seacrest will once again host the show, which begins airing from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET, followed by 11:30 p.m. to 2:13 a.m. ET. Former “Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale, who previously hosted the show’s Central Time Zone segments from New Orleans, replaces Jenny McCarthy to provide on-site reporting in Times Square. McCarthy quit the show because she said she wants to celebrate New Year’s Eve with her family. Other performers in Times Square this year include BTS, Sam Hunt and Alanis Morrissette.

Additionally, country artist Jessie James Decker will reveal the first Powerball millionaire of the year during this year’s live broadcast. She will provide live updates from the First Powerball Millionaire of the Year party throughout ABC’s live telecast and the big reveal announcing the winner will air just after midnight on January 1, 2020.

Ciara will once again host the Los Angeles segments of the show that will feature performances that were mostly previously recorded. Artists in the show’s Los Angeles segments will include Paula Abdul, Kelsea Ballerini, Blanco Brown, Dan + Shay, Green Day, Dua Lipa, Ava Max, Megan Thee Stallion, Anthony Ramos, Salt-N-Pepa and SHAED.

Meanwhile, Billy Porter will host the show’s third annual Central Time Zone celebration from New Orleans, where Sheryl Crow and Usher will perform. The show has added a segment from Miami, where Jonas Brothers will perform.

“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2020” is produced by Dick Clark Productions with Ryan Seacrest, Barry Adelman and Mark Bracco serving as executive producers. Larry Klein is producer.

News personality Maria Menounous. This year, three-time Super Bowl Champion and Fox Sports NFL analyst Rob Gronkowski joins Harvey and Menounous to co-host the show, which airs on Fox from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET and 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET live; CT/MT/PT tape-delayed. Performers will include headliner LL Cool J with DJ Z-Trip, The Chainsmokers, The Lumineers, Florida Georgia Line, the Backstreet Boys, Lauren Alaina, Tyga and The Killers. Select musical performances will be broadcast in collaboration with iHeartRadio. Additionally, the special will include celebrity cameo appearances by Gordon Ramsay, Will Arnett and Jenna Dewan, plus an exclusive WWE match featuring Roman Reigns. “Fox’s New Year’s Eve With Steve Harvey: Live From Times Square” is produced by Endeavor Content’s Film 45 and Done + Dusted. Guy Carrington, Katy Mullan, Michael Antinoro and David Chamberlin serve as executive producers.

Other performers include Hough, X Ambassadors, Brett Eldredge, Ne-Yo, Leslie Odom Jr. and The Struts.  Keith Urban will once again perform at Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight: New Year’s Eve in Nashville, taking place near the Tennessee State Capitol at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. “NBC Nightly News” and “Dateline NBC” anchor Lester Holt will also appear on stage before the iconic ball drop. “NBC’s New Year’s Eve” will be televised from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET, followed by the New Year’s countdown segment 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET. “NBC’s New Year’s Eve” is executive produced by Daly and John Irwin through NBCUniversal Television Studio and Irwin Entertainment. New Year’s Eve Live With Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen

For the third year in a row, longtime friends Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen will co-host CNN’s New Year’s Eve celebration, which begins at 8 p.m. ET. CNN’s 12th annual New Year’s Eve Show, which is telecast live from New York City’s Times Square. Performers on New Year’s Eve Live With Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen will include Christina Aguilera, Lenny Kravitz, Shania Twain, Patti LaBelle, Keith Urban, 50 Cent, The Chainsmokers, and comedian/actress Dulcé Sloan. The show will also feature CNN’s Stephanie Elam, Randi Kaye, Richard Quest, Bill Weir and Gary Tuchman with daughter Lindsay at locations across America, including the Brady Bunch House and Key West. Then at 12:30am ET, CNN’s Brooke Baldwin and Don Lemon will do a New Year’s countdown from the Central Time Zone, live from Nashville for the Music City Midnight Celebration. In previous years, CNN’s Central Time Zone countdown took place in New Orleans.

In 2017, Cohen replaced Kathy Griffin, who was notoriously fired from the show in May of that year for publicly posting a photo of herself holding up a fake bloody head of President Donald Trump. Griffin and Cooper had co-hosted CNN’s New Year’s Eve Show since 2007, but the Cooper/Cohen duo brought in the show’s highest ratings so far. Cooper and Cohen have an established rapport, since they have done numerous speaking engagements together. The CNN live stream will be available on CNN.com and across mobile devices via CNN’s apps for iOS and Android. It can also be viewed on CNNgo. Leading up to “New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen” will be the CNN one-hour special “All the Best, All the Worst 2019,” beginning at 7 p.m. ET and hosted by Tom Foreman, covering the highlights and lowlights of the past year.

Dick Clark Productions and ABC today announced that multi-platinum selling artist Post Malone will join America’s most watched New Year’s Eve special, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2020,” with a headlining performance live from New York City’s Times Square, just minutes before the ball drops. Making his Times Square debut, Post Malone will be joined by additional performers BTS, Sam Hunt and Alanis Morissette, performing for the first time with the cast of the hit Broadway musical “Jagged Little Pill” for America’s biggest celebration of the year. Additionally, as part of the broadcast, presenting sponsor YouTube will take a look back at the biggest trends on YouTube from the past decade plus make a surprise announcement. “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2020” will broadcast LIVE on Tuesday, December 31, beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST, on the ABC Television Network.

“We are so lucky to have Post Malone performing for the world right before the iconic ball drop,” said Mark Bracco, executive producer and executive vice president, programming and development, Dick Clark Productions. “Add to that superstars like BTS, Sam Hunt and Alanis Morrissette and it promises to be a memorable New Year’s Eve in Times Square.”

“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2020” marks the 48th anniversary of America’s biggest celebration of the year and will include 5 ½ hours of special performances and reports on New Year’s celebrations from around the globe. Ryan Seacrest will lead the traditional countdown to midnight from Times Square in New York City, with live onsite reporting from award-winning actress and co-host Lucy Hale. Multi-platinum artist Ciara will once again ring in the New Year from the West Coast as host of the Hollywood Party, while award-winning Broadway actor Billy Porter will host the fourth annual Central Time Zone celebration, live from New Orleans.Additionally, country artist Jessie James Decker will reveal the first-ever First Powerball Millionaire of the Year during this year’s live broadcast of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2020.” Decker will provide live updates from the First Powerball Millionaire of the Year party throughout ABC’s live telecast and the big reveal announcing the winner will air just after midnight on January 1, 2020.

A diamond-certified Grammy Award-nominated phenomenon, Dallas, TX artist Post Malone regularly rewrites history, blurs boundaries, and incites internet-breaking conversation with every move. Emerging in 2015 with a genre-less brew that inspired a movement, he delivered the diamond-selling “Congratulations” [feat. Quavo], achieved back-to-back #1 debuts on the Billboard Top 200, received countless multi-Platinum certifications around the world, and smashed one record after another with his Hot 100-topping hits. His 2019 third full-length, Hollywood’s Bleeding [Republic Records], represented an audience and critical high watermark. Not only did it arrive at Platinum status, but it also reigned at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 for four weeks and returned to the chart for a fifth week, making for the longest run atop the chart of 2019 and the first release to do so in over a year. It followed the immense success of the triple-Platinum beerbongs & Bentleys, which also landed at #1 a year prior. In the wake of beerbongs & bentleys, Post crushed a record in place for 54 years. He charted nine songs in the Top 20 of the Hot 100, notching “the most songs in the Top 20 of the Hot 100 ever.” Moreover, he also trounced the record for most simultaneous Top 40 Hot 100 hits with 14. As of 2019, his catalog comprises the GRAMMY® Award-nominated “rockstar” [feat. 21 Savage” (8x-platinum), “Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse)” [feat. Swae Lee] (8x-platinum), “I Fall Apart” (5x-platinum), “Psycho” [feat. Ty Dolla $ign] (5x-platinum), “White Iverson” (5x-platinum), “Better Now” (4x-platinum), and more. Not to mention, he sold out numerous arena tours and launched his own mega-popular Posty Fest in its second successful year in 2019. It all started with his triple-platinum influential 2016 debut, Stoney. With records under his belt that will likely never be surpassed and a generation of artists and audiences worldwide under his spell, Post Malone simply doesn’t stop.

2020 Golden Globe Awards: ‘Marriage Story’ is the top nominee

December 9, 2019

With six nominations, Netflix’s divorce drama “Marriage Story” is the leading contender for 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will be presented January 5, 2020, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Ricky Gervais will host the ceremony. NBC has the U.S. telecast of the show, which begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) votes for the nominations and awards. The HFPA and Dick Clark Productions are producing the Golden Globe Awards telecast. Eligible movies are feature-length films released in the U.S. for at least one week in 2019. Eligible TV shows are those that aired new episodes on U.S. TV networks or streaming services in 2019.

“Marriage Story” picked up expected nominations for in the Motion Picture – Drama categories: Best Picture, Best Actor (Adam Driver) and Best Actress (Scarlett Johansson). The other “Marriage Story” nominations are for Best Screenplay (Noah Baumbauch), Best Supporting Actress (Laura Dern) and Best Original Score (Randy Newman). Other movies with multiple nominations are Netflix’s “The Irishman” and Columbia Pictures’ “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” which have five nods each.  Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Joker” and Netflix’s “The Two Popes” have four nominations each. Neon’s “Parasite,” Universal Pictures’ “1917,” and Paramount Pictures’ “Rocketman” each earned three nods.

For television, HBO’s “Chernobyl,” Netflix’s “The Crown” and Netflix’s “Unbelievable” are the leading contenders, with four nominations each. HBO’s “Barry,” HBO’s “Succession,” Amazon’s “Fleabag,” HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” FX’s “Fosse/ Verdon,” Netflix’s “The Kominsky Method” and Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show” scored three nominations each.

Snubs and Surprises

Jharrel Jerome in “When They See Us” (Photo courtesy of Netflix)

The most noticeable Golden Globes snub this year was Netflix’s award-winning, critically acclaimed limited drama series “When They See Us” (created by Ava DuVernay), which told the story about the wrongful convictions of the Central Park Five, but failed to get any Golden Globe nominations. The snub is all the more noticeable, considering that “When They See Us” had 10 Emmy nominations and ended up winning one: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie, which went to Jharrel Jerome. Other Golden Globe TV snubs this year included “This Is Us” and “Schitt’s Creek,” which each received multiple Emmy nods this year. Also shut out of the Golden Globes race are the movies “Uncut Gems,” “Honey Boy,” “Clemency,” “The Lighthouse” and “Waves,” which have all received several nominations and some wins at independent film awards.

In terms of surprises, the murder mystery “Knives Out” picked up three nods in the Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy field: Best Picture, Best Actor (Daniel Craig) and Best Actress (Ana de Armas). Although there are some jokes in “Knives Out,” it can hardly be considered a comedy, since it’s an Agatha Christie-styled mystery drama.  It’s yet another example of how the Golden Globe Awards put nominees from movie dramas in the Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy categories. Other examples of dramas being misplaced in the musical/comedy field this year include Awkwafina from “The Farewell” and Cate Blanchett from “Where’d You Go, Bernadette?,” who each received nominations for Best Actress, while the “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” picked up nods for Best Picture and Best Actor (for Leonardo DiCaprio).

Diversity and Inclusion

Park So-dam and Choi Woo-shik in “Parasite” (Photo courtesy of Neon)

In terms of diversity, the major movie categories each had at least one person of color as a nominee. Asians had the highest representation this year in the movie categories, with the South Korean drama “Parasite” (three nods), the Chinese American film “The Farewell” (two nods) and “Jojo Rabbit,” whose director/producer/co-star Taika Waititi is of Māori descent.

Latinos were represented most by the Spanish film “Pain and Glory,” which got nominations for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama (for Antonio Banderas). The aforementioned “Knives Out” co-star de Armas, who is Cuban, was also nominated. “Hustlers” co-star Jennifer Lopez (a Puerto Rican American) picked up a nod for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture.

Black people had representation in the movie categories with Eddie Murphy from “Dolemite Is My Name” (Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy); Cynthia Erivo from “Harriet” (Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama and Best Original Song); Beyoncé from “The Lion King” (Best Original Song); and the French drama “Les Misérables” (Best Foreign Language Film), which has a black director and a predominantly black cast.

People of color are underrepresented in the TV categories. All of the nominees are white in most of the TV categories this year, which would not have happened if “When They See Us” repeated its Emmy nominations. Meanwhile, African American actor Billy Porter from “Pose” and Egyptian American actors Rami Malek from “Mr. Robot” and Ramy Youssef from “Ramy” were the only people of color to get nominations in the TV categories. Porter and Malek are contenders in the category of Best Actor in a TV Series – Drama, while Youssef is nominated for Best Actor in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy. Native Americans, who are severely underrepresented in entertainment, received no nominations in any of the Golden Globe categories, although there are some Native American supporting characters in the nominated animated film “Frozen II.” The award for Best Animated Film goes to the film’s producer(s) and director(s), not the actors.

In the categories of Best Director, all of the nominees are men. (The Golden Globes have been shutting out women in this category for years.) Women were also snubbed this year in the category of Best Screenplay. Possible nominees in the screenplay category could have been writer/director Greta Gerwig for “Little Women” and Krysty Wilson-Cairns, who co-wrote “1917” with director Sam Mendes. However, a woman did get a nomination in a category that’s traditionally dominated by men: Best Original Score. Hildur Guðnadóttir got a nod in this category for her “Joker” score.

The LGBTQ community is represented in the movie categories with the Elton John musical biopic “Rocketman,” which received three nominations; “Pain and Glory,” which is inspired by a dysfunctional period of time in the life of the film’s openly gay director, Pedro Almodóvar; the French lesbian drama “Portrait of a Lady on Fire,” which is nominated for Best Foreign Language Film; and nominated “Bombshell” supporting actress Margot Robbie, who plays a queer character in the movie. For television, the LGBTQ community picked up two nods for “The Politician”— Best Comedy Series and Best Actor in a Comedy Series (for Ben Platt) — while the aforementioned Porter from “Pose” received an expected Golden Globe nod, since he won an Emmy Award for the role.

Halsey (Photo by Frank Micelotta/Fox/PictureGroup)

Since 2015, Halsey has amassed over 23 billion streams worldwide and sold more than nine million adjusted albums globally. She has played sold-out dates on five continents (including New York City’s Madison Square Garden), been nominated for a Grammy and appeared on a wide variety of magazine covers, including Rolling Stone, Cosmopolitan, Nylon, Forbes, Playboy and Billboard. Her 2015 debut album, BADLANDS, was certified Platinum by the RIAA within one year of its release. Halsey claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 with 2017’s Platinum-certified hopeless fountain kingdom, which contained such hits as the 2x Platinum “Now or Never” and the 4x Platinum “Bad at Love.”

The success of “Without Me” has made Halsey the first and only female artist to have at least three songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100 for 50 weeks each. Rounding out the trio of songs are the 2x Platinum “Eastside,” her collaboration with Benny Blanco and Khalid, and The Chainsmokers’ 11x Platinum “Closer,” which she featured on. “Without Me” spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in early 2019, marking her first solo single to reach the top spot. It now ranks as the longest-running Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit by a female artist of this century.

She is the first artist to rank at Nos. 1 and 2 simultaneously on Billboard’s Hot 100 Pop Songs radio airplay chart. In March 2019, Halsey became the first artist in history to replace herself at No. 1 twice on the U.S. Pop Songs Airplay chart when “Without Me” returned to No. 1, bumping “Eastside” from the top spot. “Without Me” is the most-played song of 2019 at U.S. radio. She featured on BTS’s platinum hit, “Boy With Luv,” and, more recently, alongside Future on “Die for Me,” a track from Post Malone’s new album. Halsey continues to push creative boundaries, expanding her influence and impact beyond music.

After making her film debut in the animated 2018 summer movie Teen Titans GO! as the voice of Wonder Woman, she was seen in A Star is Born, starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. She continues to use her voice to speak up for causes she passionately believes in, including disenfranchised youth, women’s rights, mental health and the LGBTQ community. GLAAD honored her in 2018 as Outstanding Music Artist. She recently won the Hal David Starlight Award, presented by the Songwriters Hall of Fame, plus a VMA and two Teen Choice Awards. Most recently, Halsey released “Graveyard” and “clementine” from her upcoming album, Manic, which will be released on January 17th, 2020.

Grammy-nominated, Toronto-born multiplatinum singer/songwriter Mendes released his highly anticipated self-titled third album in May 2018. The certified platinum album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 Chart as well as multiple additional worldwide markets. It shot to #1 on iTunes in more than 80 countries immediately upon release. The album became one of the top best-selling album debuts of 2018 and made Mendes the third youngest solo artist to ever have three consecutive #1 albums. Mendes was nominated in two categories for the 61st annual Grammy Awards, including “Song of the Year” for “In My Blood” and “Best Pop Vocal Album” for Shawn Mendes. Most recently, Mendes was nominated for a Grammy for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” for his single with Camila Cabello, “Señorita.” The song debuted at #1 on iTunes worldwide and broke Spotify’s record for the biggest debut from a male/female duet in its history. The hit nabbed the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart as well as #1 at Top 40 Radio. Earlier this summer, Mendes debuted his certified platinum single, “If I Can’t Have You,” at #1 on iTunes and #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

With “Señorita” at #1 and “If I Can’t Have You” at #2, Mendes is the first male solo artist ever to simultaneously hold the #1 and #2 place on the Top 40 chart. In April 2017, Mendes released his 3x platinum hit “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back.” The track scored Shawn his second #1 single at Top 40 radio and on Billboard’s Pop Songs chart, joining his 7x platinum single “Stitches.” Throughout his career, Mendes has achieved 3 consecutive #1 album debuts, 3 platinum albums, and 11+ consecutive platinum and multi-platinum singles. Worldwide, he has sold over 20 million albums, 175 million singles, and has amassed over 31 billion strong streams and over 8 billion YouTube views.

Mendes has completed two sold-out world tours with over one million tickets sold, selling out legendary stadiums and arenas including NYC’s Madison Square Garden and London’s O2 Arena in minutes. On his most recent tour, he sold out his first ever stadium show in minutes at Rogers Centre in his hometown of Toronto. The tour began in March 2019, with over 100 dates currently announced across the UK, Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia and Australia/New Zealand. He topped Billboard’s “21 Under 21” in 2017 and 2018 and has been featured on Forbes “30 Under 30,” Spotify’s “25 Under 25,” and Time Magazine’s “Time 100 Most Influential”. Last year, ROI Influencer Media recognized Mendes as the #1 Most Influential Artist and #1 Most Influential Teen across all social media platforms.

The following is a press release from Dick Clark Productions and NBC:

Global comedy superstar Ricky Gervais, in his unique and legendary fashion, will resume hosting duties for a record fifth time at the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The three-hour telecast will air live on NBC coast to coast Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

The Golden Globes serve as the official kickoff to the 2020 awards season. 25 categories — 14 in film and 11 in television — are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

“Once again, they’ve made me an offer I can’t refuse. But this is the very last time I’m doing this, which could make for a fun evening,” said Gervais.

“There is always a palpable electricity in the room when Ricky takes the Globes stage. His return as master of ceremonies at the Golden Globes is much anticipated,” said Paul Telegdy, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “It is sure to make for an unexpected evening. We can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve.”

“When Ricky Gervais is at the helm of the Golden Globes Awards, we can always expect the unexpected,” said President of the HFPA Lorenzo Soria. “We’re excited to see it all unfold on Jan. 5!”

“In a world where many award shows are opting to go the no host route, the Golden Globes are going all in! It’s going to be a great night,” added Mike Mahan, CEO, Dick Clark Productions.

Last January’s NBC telecast of “The 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards” averaged 18.6 million viewers in “live plus same day” Nielsens, delivering the biggest audience for a primetime telecast, excluding news and sports, in 10 months, since the prior March’s Academy Awards. The Jan. 6 “Golden Globes” coverage also generated a year-to-year increase in the key adults 18-49 demographic, with a 5.2 rating vs. a 5.0. That 5.2 more than quadrupled NBC’s non-sports 18-49 average in the timeslot the previous season and the audience of 18.6 million was up 13.5 million persons versus the prior season’s average.

Creator and star of “The Office” and “Extras,” Ricky Gervais has won three Golden Globes, two Primetime Emmys and seven BAFTAS. “The Office” is the most successful British comedy of all time, shown in more than 90 countries with seven remakes. The NBC version is the most successful U.S. remake of a British show in more than 30 years.

Gervais hosted the Golden Globes in 2010-12 and returned for a fourth time in 2016.

Considered the most influential British comedian since Charlie Chaplin, Gervais is an award-winning stand-up comedian, with five international tours to date. His live stand up show “Fame” became the fastest selling UK stand-up show in history.

Gervais can most recently be seen in the dark comedy “After Life,” which he created, directs, stars in and executive produced. The series premiered March 8 worldwide on Netflix and will return for a second season in 2020.

In 2017, Gervais toured worldwide with his first stand-up special in seven years. “Humanity,” which was also recorded as a Netflix special, takes aim at human behavior with his trademark wit. He recently embarked on his follow up tour, “SuperNature,” which will also be released on Netflix.

Gervais is featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most downloaded Internet show of all time. He was named in Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World and awarded the Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Award from the Banff World Television Festival.

The Golden Globe Awards, often referred to as “Hollywood’s Party of the Year,” is one of the biggest nights on the calendar for live viewing. It’s also one of the few awards shows that combine the honorees of both film and television. The 2019 Golden Globe Awards telecast averaged a 5.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 18.6 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Produced by Dick Clark Productions in association with the HFPA, the Golden Globe Awards are viewed in more than 210 territories worldwide. Lorenzo Soria is President of the HFPA. Mike Mahan, CEO of Dick Clark Productions and Barry Adelman, Executive VP of Television at Dick Clark Productions will serve as executive producers.

2019 American Music Awards: Camila Cabello, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Thomas Rhett, Shania Twain added to performer lineup

November 6, 2019

The following is a press release from Dick Clark Productions and ABC:

Dick Clark Productions and ABC announced today that Camila Cabello, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa and Lizzo will each take the stage to perform at the “2019 American Music Awards.” Multi-platinum singer/songwriter, four-time American Music Award winner and 2019 nominee Camila Cabello will once again grace the stage after giving an unforgettable performance last year, while breakout artist and six-time American Music Award nominee Billie Eilish will take the stage for her very first awards show performance. Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Dua Lipa also returns to the American Music Awards stage after delivering one of the most talked-about performances last year and chart-topping superstar Lizzo, who received three nominations this year, will bring her unstoppable energy to the American Music Awards stage for the very first time.

Cabello, Eilish, Lipa and Lizzo join previously announced performers Selena Gomez, as well as Taylor Swift, the “2019 American Music Awards” Artist of the Decade award recipient. The “2019 American Music Awards” will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 24 at 8:00 p.m. EST on ABC.

The American Music Awards is where the world’s biggest artists and pop culture icons come together to honor idols, newcomers and record-breakers in the contemporary music scene.  As the decade comes to a close, this year’s show celebrates the past ten years with some of the best moments in music and live performances from the biggest names in the industry. From Pop and Rock, to Country, Hip Hop and beyond, it only happens here.

Four-time American Music Award winner Camila Cabello is currently enjoying her lucky 13th hit on Billboard’s Pop Songs airplay chart with “Liar,” after previously topping the chart earlier in 2019 with her fourth No. 1, “Señorita,” with Shawn Mendes. “Señorita” also marked the second No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for Cabello, following her smash single “Havana” in 2018. That single climbed to No. 1 the very same week Cabello’s debut album, Camila, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. So far, Cabello’s catalog of songs have accumulated over three billion U.S. on-demand streams, according to Nielsen Music, while her Camila album has earned 1.7 million equivalent album units.

It was a big year on the charts for six-time 2019 American Music Award nominee Billie Eilish. The 17-year old singer, songwriter and musician debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with her album WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?. She scored her first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with “bad guy,” which has since amassed more than 3 billion global audio streams alone, and reached No. 1 at Top 40 radio. WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? is now the highest selling debut album of 2019 and biggest North American debut of the decade (male, female or group), shifting 313,000 units in the first week and has already hit NUMBER 1 in the Billboard 200 album charts for an additional 2 nonconsecutive weeks since its release, earning Billie more than 17 billion combined streams worldwide to date. Billie’s 2020 Where Do We Go? World Arena Tour sold out within an hour of on-sale and starts March 9, 2020. When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? has collected more than 3 billion audio streams for its songs in the U.S. alone. Billie Eilish is also the third woman in history to score multiple No. 1s in the Alternative Songs airplay chart.

Serving up a divine slice of pulsing disco, Dua Lipa is back with “Don’t Start Now.” The track is a pure adrenaline-fueled, feel-good dance floor anthem of positivity and self-empowerment that announces a new era of the global pop star. Dua arrived in style in 2015 with her self-titled, chart topping debut album which eclipsed four million sales worldwide with single sales reaching over 40 million. Dua Lipa is also officially the most streamed album by a female artist in Spotify history. The video for her breakout global #1 hit “New Rules” made her the youngest female solo artist to reach one billion views on YouTube, and the track became the first to spend a record 45 weeks on the Billboard Pop Songs Chart. Dua made BRIT Award history in 2018 by becoming the first female artist to pick up five nominations, with two wins for British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Artist, all while selling out tours around the world. In early 2019, she received two Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording. Her newest single “Don’t Start Now” debuted at No. 1 on the worldwide iTunes Chart and was the No. 1 trending video on YouTube upon its release. Welcome to the next era.

Current three-time American Music Award nominee Lizzo had a remarkable breakthrough year in 2019. She saw her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, “Truth Hurts,” sail all the way to No. 1 and dominate for seven weeks, tying for the longest reign ever for a rap song by a female artist and garnering more than 600 million on-demand streams in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music. Plus, her album Cuz I Love You bowed in the top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and has earned one million equivalent album units in America. Lizzo’s latest hit single, “Good as Hell,” has already hit the Top 10 of the Hot 100 chart, thanks in part to a new remix of the track with Ariana Grande. She is also quickly approaching one billion global streams and has already more than doubled the record for the longest Hot 100 command for a rap No. 1 by a female artist unaccompanied by another act.
