The following is a press release from E!:

E! announced today that global superstar P!NK will be celebrated with “The People’s Champion of 2019” award at the “E! She is also nominated this year for Female Artist of 2019 and Concert Tour of 2019. The “E! People’s Choice Awards” will be broadcast live from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on Sunday, November 10 from 9:00-11:00pm ET/PT.

“There are so many wonderful organizations and individuals doing extraordinary things in our communities every single day,” says P!NK. “These are our everyday warriors and champions. They teach us and our children that it’s cool to be kind and that change is possible. I feel honored to be a small part of that change and will continue to be a champion for the truth and for open minds and open hearts.”
“P!NK’s ability to capture a global audience with her music and also encourage them to act on behalf of important causes that affects humankind is awe-inspiring,” said Jen Neal, General Manager, E! Having recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking her ever lasting impression on pop culture and the musical community, P!NK first debuted on the charts in 2000. Since then, she has released eight studio albums and one greatest hits album, selling over 60 Million albums worldwide throughout her career. Her work has been recognized with three Grammy Awards, a Daytime Emmy Award, seven MTV Video Music Awards, including being named the 2017 Video Vanguard Award recipient, and was Billboard’s Woman of the Year in 2013 and most recently Billboard’s Legend of Live Award. Her latest studio effort Hurts 2B Human marks her third consecutive album to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 Chart. P!NK just wrapped her highly acclaimed Beautiful Trauma World Tour where she played over 156 shows in 18 countries ultimately selling over 3 million tickets worldwide. The tour is the 10th highest grossing tour in Billboard’s Boxscore’s history, and the biggest for a woman in over a decade.

The “E! People’s Choice Awards” will be broadcast live from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on Sunday, November 10 starting at 9p ET/PT, with “E! Live From The Red Carpet: The E! People’s Choice Awards 2019” kicking off at 7p ET/PT.

The following is a press release from E!:

E! announced today that multi-platinum recording artist and global superstar Gwen Stefani will receive the “E! People’s Choice Awards” Fashion Icon Award at this year’s telecast. The three-time Grammy Award winner and four-time coach on NBC’s hit musical competition series “The Voice” has seamlessly translated her magnetic style into a series of successful lifestyle brands for all ages, including her fashion line L.A.M.B., its sister label Harajuku Lovers, her eyewear line gx by Gwen Stefani and the award-winning Harajuku Mini for Target. “It’s an incredible honor to receive this year’s Fashion Icon Award at the ‘E!’s People’s Choice Awards,’” said Gwen Stefani. “As an artist, musician and entrepreneur, fashion has always served as a creative outlet for me to express my personality and music. I am so grateful to receive this award and continue to be inspired by those who stand apart and embrace their unique style and individuality.”

2018 E! People’s Choice Awards: John Legend will perform musical tribute to activist Bryan Stevenson, recipient of first People’s Champion Award

November 1, 2018

The following is a press release from E!:

“The E! People’s Choice Awards” will honor Bryan Stevenson, civil rights icon and founder of Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), with the first-ever People’s Champion Award during the live awards show on Sunday, November 11th at 9p ET/PT. Stevenson is being recognized for his profound and lasting impact in the fight for equality, acceptance and justice for all Americans. Critically acclaimed, multi-award winning singer-songwriter and philanthropist John Legend will present the award and also perform during a tribute to Mr. Stevenson. The People’s Champion Award was created in partnership with Erase The Hate, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment’s social impact campaign which supports and celebrates people across country taking action against hate, discrimination and bias.

“It is an incredible honor to present this award to Bryan Stevenson, a man whose life’s work has been dedicated to fighting social injustices and advocating for civil rights,” said John Legend. “He embodies what it means to be a people’s champion with his fierce commitment to helping the poor, the incarcerated and the condemned.”

Stevenson has launched an ambitious national effort to create new cultural spaces that reflect America’s history of racial injustice. Earlier this year EJI opened a ground-breaking museum built on the site of a former slave warehouse in downtown Montgomery, Alabama. The Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration is a companion to a national memorial to victims of lynching called the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, hailed by the Washington Post as “one of the most powerful and effective new memorials in a generation.” Stevenson’s lifelong work through EJI has been to end mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, challenge racial and economic injustice and protect basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.

“It’s our privilege to recognize Bryan Stevenson with this award for his tireless efforts in protecting the basic human rights for those in our society most in need of a champion,” said Bonnie Hammer, Chairman of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, who relaunched Erase The Hate in 2017. “His passion for acceptance and equality and unending work fighting hate and bias align perfectly with our campaign’s mission.”

“I am humbled to be honored for the work I’ve been doing alongside our EJI staff, supporters and clients for the last three decades,” said Stevenson. “The work that the Erase The Hate campaign is doing to amplify ways to get involved in anti-hate work and support change makers already making a difference in local communities and across the country is so important to the collective movement against hate.”

Stevenson’s best-selling memoir Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption is being adapted into a feature-length film scheduled for release in 2020. Starring Michael B. Jordan as Stevenson, the film chronicles EJI’s early days and most notable civil rights battles.

Stevenson has received numerous awards and honors for his leadership, including the MacArthur Foundation “Genius Grant” in 1995 and the American Civil Liberties Union’s National Medal of Liberty. Fortune included him on its 2016 and 2017 lists of World’s Greatest Leaders.

EJI provides legal representation to indigent defendants and prisoners who have been denied fair and just treatment in the legal system. Under Stevenson’s leadership, EJI has won major legal challenges eliminating excessive and unfair sentencing, exonerating innocent death row prisoners, confronting abuse of the incarcerated and the mentally ill and aiding children prosecuted as adults. Stevenson has successfully argued several cases in the United States Supreme Court, including an historic ruling that mandatory life-without-parole sentences for all children 17 and younger are unconstitutional. Stevenson and his staff have won reversals, relief, or release for over 125 wrongly condemned prisoners on death row.

Inspired by people, like Stevenson, who are creating change, and to coincide with the People’s Choice Awards, the Erase The Hate campaign is launching the #EraseTheHatePledge to show the world there’s a community of people who are willing, committed, and ready to make a difference — a loud chorus of people pledged to do their part to counter hate. People can learn more about the pledge and find ways to get involved at erasethehate.org and on Erase The Hate’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

“The E! People’s Choice Awards” is produced by Wilshire Studios and Den of Thieves with Executive Producers Jesse Ignjatovic and Evan Prager.
