The soap opera ended up winning five Daytime Emmys this year: Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama Series (for James Reynolds), Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (for Greg Vaughn), Directing for a Drama Series; and Writing for a Drama Series.

“Days of Our Lives” executive producers Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, a non-competitive category. The award was presented by “Days of Our Lives” veteran actress Deidre Hall.

Also getting special recognition during the show were the anniversaries of some iconic TV series:  “General Hospital” (55th anniversary), “Mr. Rogers Neighborhood” (50th anniversary) and “M*A*S*H” (45th anniversary).

In the talk-show categories, “The Talk” received the prize for Outstanding Talk Show/ Entertainment; “The Dr. Oz Show” won for Outstanding Talk Show/Informative; Steve Harvey was named Outstanding Informative Talk-Show Host for his self-titled show; and the four hosts of “The Real” (Tamera Mowry-Housley, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai and Adrienne Houghton) won the prize for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host.

Although the #MeToo and Times Up movements were mentioned or referenced at times on stage, it wasn’t a big part of the program, compared to this year’s Golden Globes and Oscars. The Daytime Emmy ceremony’s most controversial moment came when feminist attorney Gloria Allred (who represents many of Bill Cosby’s accusers) presented the award for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program category. Before announcing the winner, Allred held up a sign that said “Bill Cosby Guilty! Gulity! Guilty!” Her stunt got a mixed response from the crowd: some people cheered, while others booed. (On April 26, Cosby was convicted of three counts of sexual assault against his former Temple University colleague Andrea Constand, who claimed that Cosby assaulted her in 2004.) Allred held up the same sign when she walked on the red carpet before the ceremony.

The Daytime Emmy Awards have not been on televised since 2015. However, this year’s show was livestreamed on the official NATAS website, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Periscope. People could also watch the show by downloading the KNEKT TV app and watching on Apple TV, Roku, iOS and Android.

Here is the complete list of winners and nominees for the 2018 Daytime Emmy Awards:

2018 Primetime Emmy Awards: Michael Che, Colin Jost named as co-hosts

April 26, 2018

Colin Jost and Michael Che, “Weekend Update” anchors and Emmy®Award-nominated co-head writers of NBC’s iconic and Emmy Award-winning late night franchise “Saturday Night Live,” have been named co-hosts of the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards. The telecast will be executive produced by “SNL” creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels.

The Emmys will air live coast to coast from the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles on Monday, Sept. 17 from 8-11 p.m. ET (5-8 p.m. PT) on NBC.

“NBC is thrilled to be the home of this year’s Emmy Awards and with Colin and Michael in the driver’s seat as hosts, along with surprise appearances by other cast members of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ I think we are in for one of the funniest awards shows in a long time,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment.

Said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment: “We’re proud of our deep comedy roster at NBC, and Michael and Colin — along with the return of king of comedy producer Lorne Michaels — will make this the must-see comedy event of the year.”

“We are elated that Colin Jost and Michael Che will bring their hilarious collective talents to hosting this year’s Emmy Awards,” said Hayma Washington, Television Academy chairman and CEO. “They have an amazing onscreen rapport and we are delighted to begin working with them along with the entire NBC team.”

“We’re proud to be the first duo hosting the Emmys since Jenna Elfman and David Hyde Pierce, and somehow that’s a real fact,” said Jost and Che.

Jost and Che are Emmy-nominated co-head writers on “SNL” who began their tenure on “Weekend Update” in 2014. A four-time WGA Award winner and recipient of a Peabody Award, Jost started at “SNL” as a writer in 2005. Che, who was previously named on Variety’s 10 Comics to Watch list and Rolling Stone’s 50 Funniest People, joined “SNL” in 2013. Each was named as a co-head writer on “SNL” in 2017.

So far this season, “Saturday Night Live” is averaging a 2.82 rating in adults 18-49 and 9.405 million viewers in “live plus seven day” figures from Nielsen Media Research. This is the show’s #2 most-watched season at this point in 23 years. With the inclusion of projected 35-day non-linear ratings, “SNL” this season is averaging a 3.78 rating in 18-49.

Nominations for the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced Thursday, July 12 from the Television Academy’s Wolf Theatre at the Saban Media Center.

In September 2014, Lopez released his first autobiography, Just Between Us. In his memoir Lopez shares his successes and disappointments, never before-told stories and family values. Lopez became a New York Times bestselling author for his healthy eating guide Extra Lean. In May 2011, he released the follow up to Extra Lean entitled Extra Lean Family. This new book featured recipes and tips that are beneficial to the entire family. Additionally, Lopez pennedMario Lopez’s Knockout Fitness a bestselling fitness book that offers readers a look into his impressive workout regime, and Mud Tacos, a vibrant children’s’ book he co-authored with his sister Marissa. As a follow up to Mud Tacos, Lopez released Mario & Baby Gia, a children’s book he wrote for his daughter, Gia. The book is currently being developed into an animated series.

No stranger to rigorous routines, Lopez danced his way to the finals in the third season of ABC’s hit show Dancing with the Stars. Shortly after, in summer 2009, Lopez successfully completed his first run on Broadway. He starred in the long-running hit musical A Chorus Line as the audience loved character ‘Zach.’

Mario was named the Alumni Ambassador of Fitness by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), while joining the ranks of some 25 other prominent alumni, including Denzel Washington and President Clinton, in the organization’s BE GREAT campaign. Mario helps bring to light the major issues affecting today’s young people, including the importance of graduating from high school and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the key role community-based organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs play in the positive development of children.

Even with all his other ventures, Mario is still in love with acting. Lopez reincarnated his guest-starring role as Dr. Mike Hamoui on the final season of F/X network’s popular show Nip/Tuck. Lopez’s run on the series garnished an instant and well-deserved cult following. He previously starred in the highest rated program in ABC Family history, Holiday in Handcuffs. He also starred opposite Mark Consuelos in the made for TV movie Husband for Hire, which was the most watched program ever on the Oxygen Network. Last summer, he was the host of the CBS live action game show, Candy Crush.

Mario currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife Courtney and their daughter, Gia and son, Dominic.
