Country singer Kellie Pickler will co-host a nationally syndicated talk show with New York TV personality Ben Aaron. Grammy-winning singer Faith Hill is one of the show’s executive producers. The as-yet-untitled original program is set to debut on September 18, 2017. Other executive producers of the show include Lisa Erspamer, co-founder of Happy Street Entertainment and former executive producer of “The Oprah Winfrey Show, as well as Sandbox Entertainment president and CEO Jason Owen, in partnership with The E.W. Scripps Company.
According to a Scripps press release: “This interactive and shop-able show will cover everything from cooking, gardening, entertaining and home design to beauty and fashion … Scripps will debut the show in 20 of its 24 television markets, and Disney/ABC Home Entertainment and Television Distribution will distribute the show in national syndication. ”
Hill commented in a statement:”We will bring a little bit of southern charm and inspiration to our viewers, alongside insights from top tastemakers and experts in many areas. Kellie is very much southern while Ben is everything New York – complete opposites but together their chemistry is magic and our viewers are going to love them.”
Pickler rose to fame as a semi-finalist on “American idol” in 2005. She has had several hit albums and singles on the country charts. Pickler also stars in the CMT reality show “I Love Kellie Pickler,” which has been on the air since 2015.
Aaron has numerous TV credits, including co-hosting the Oxygen talk show “Crazy Talk” and being a features reporter for WNBC for “New York Live.” He also is teaming up with his wife, Ginger Zee, chief meteorologist for “Good Morning America,” on a new home renovation show on the DIY Network that is set to air in May 2017.
Comcast’s pet owners and their canines are in for a real treat: DOGTV, the world’s first and only television network created specifically for dogs, announced today its immediate availability on Comcast’s Xfinity On Demand. For over five years, DOGTV has been the lead dog in canine content production by providing entertaining and enriching television shows and specials that combat dog boredom, separation anxiety, hyperactivity and more. The expansion to Comcast is DOGTV’s first-ever stand-alone video on demand (VOD) offering.
“The secret life of pets is not so secret—dogs need entertainment and enrichment, just like humans. The new DOGTV offering with Comcast has content with auditory and visual stimuli designed just for dogs, and we also have programming for their pet parents as well,” says Gilad Neumann, CEO and Co-Founder, DOGTV. “With our new video library, subscribers are in control of what type of content they want their dogs to watch, making it easy to pick and choose the programs that are best for their pups. We’re confident that pet owners’ guilt will subside when they leave the house knowing that their dog is watching expert-curated shows that are tailored to their dog’s personality and needs.”
DOGTV’s VOD offering is available to Xfinity TV customers for $4.99 per month. The subscription includes DOGTV’s original content that is scientifically developed and tested to provide 24-hour, pup-approved television for stay-at-home dogs. The programs and videos cover multiple categories, including relaxation, stimulation, and exposure, and are fueled by expert-driven research.
“Studies have shown that dog boredom is the number one leading cause of misbehavior in the home. Dogs also deal with real issues such as separation anxiety, possessiveness and aggressiveness, and we’re committed to creating content with stimuli that have been documented as having a real, tangible benefit,” said Professor Nicholas Dodman, Chief Scientist, DOGTV. “Our mission is to arm pet parents with the types of programming that fosters a happier furry friend.”
Daily programs for dogs, expert shows and specials, such as “Water Dogs,” “Noise Phobia” and “Dogs in Cars” are available on DOGTV’s VOD channel, and additional new content will be released later this year. Millions of dogs and dog owners are now able to watch the content specifically designed for a dog’s visual, auditory and emotional sensibility.
“DOGTV’s unique collection of programming for the four-legged members of families is a great addition to our Xfinity On Demand catalog and a great example of how Xfinity is working to increase consumer choice and selection,” said Daniel Spinosa, General Manager of Movies, Pay-Per-View and Commerce, Comcast Cable. “This partnership is representative of our commitment to delivering the best collection of content to our customers whenever and wherever they want to watch it.”

FYI is partnering with Sur La Table to produce the new culinary series “Scraps,” where national Sur La Table Chef Joel Gamoran travels across the U.S. creating incredible feasts in unexpected places, using the most out-of-the-box ingredients—food waste and scraps. KitchenAid® appliances will be integrated throughout the series. Award-winning journalist Katie Couric will serve as an executive producer of the ten half-hour episodes slated to premiere beginning Sunday, May 21 at 10:30 p.m. ET on FYI.
“Food waste is such a huge problem in this country and more and more people want to do something about it,” said Couric. “I’m so excited for Chef Joel Gamoran to introduce viewers to wonderful places and delicious recipes using ingredients we never imagined could taste so good. Joel’s energy and enthusiasm are infectious.”
Each episode of “Scraps” will follow Chef Joel Gamoran to a new city where he partners with food waste champions to celebrate the local cuisine and create a delicious meal with food items many consider to be waste, like banana peels, shrimp shells, chicken bones and carrot stems. The pressure will be on as Joel will have less than a day to source ingredients, build a full menu and create a meal for an outdoor dinner party. From roadside foraging, to chocolate roasting, to oyster hunting—viewers will follow Joel on a one-of-a-kind food sourcing adventure in his refurbished 1963 Volkswagen bus, which doubles as his mobile kitchen. The new KitchenAid Artisan Mini Mixer, Stand Mixer attachments and high-performance Pro Line Series Blender will be used in the series to make everything from fresh pasta to veggie noodles and more.
FYI and Sur La Table will also partner to offer ten online cooking classes, giving viewers the opportunity to learn more in depth techniques and incorporate scraps in their cooking. The cooking classes will be available for purchase on Sur La Table’s website after each episode of “Scraps” airs. Additionally, a sweepstakes will offer viewers the chance to win KitchenAid products and Sur La Table cooking classes.
“FYI is thrilled to partner with Sur La Table on this aspirational culinary series, paired with an interactive digital cooking class,” said Peter Olsen, Executive Vice President Ad Sales, A+E Networks. “We strive to be a step ahead in the lifestyle space, while offering potential partners innovative opportunities to integrate with our brand, and ‘Scraps’ is no exception.”
“As a chef, I have dedicated my life to making the kitchen more approachable for everyone and ‘Scraps’ is a cooking movement that will genuinely open doors for home cooks to view ingredients differently,” says Chef Joel Gamoran. “Ugly produce and what once was thought of as cooking waste will now be seen as edible and useful – saving money and resources. Imperfect is the new perfect!”
“The movement to reduce food waste inspired ‘Scraps’ unique format and style, and allowed us to bring these partners together,” says Timothy Whitney, Head of Development at RAIN, one of the show’s production partners. “We celebrate something that is hiding in plain sight—that broccoli stem tastes even better than the florets, that you can make ice cream from bruised bananas, that your stale bread has a second life—in a way that engages an active, digitally-oriented audience.”
PBS is launching “Chefs Flight”as part of the network’s “American Masters” series that will include new documentaries on culinary icons James Beard and Jacques Pépin.
“James Beard: America’s First Foodie” premieres in most market on May 19, 2017, at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. (Check local listings.) The program chronicles a century of food through the story of Beard (1903-1985), who was a pioneer celebrity chef and author. Immediately after the Beard documentary, PBS will televise a rebroadcast of “American Masters – Julia! America’s Favorite Chef” at 10 p.m. ET.
Meanwhile, “Jacques Pépin: The Art of Craft” (narrated by Stanley Tucci) premieres in most markets on May 26 at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. (Check local listings.) Immediately after the Pépin documentary, PBS will have an encore presentation of “American Masters – Alice Waters and her Delicious Revolution” at 10 p.m. ET.
According to a PBS press release: Among the many highlights in the Beard documentary are Daniel Boulud and restaurant critic Gael Greene telling how Beard helped start Citymeals on Wheels; Jacques Pépin reminiscing about cooking with Beard; Martha Stewart sharing how Beard’s cookbooks influenced her; Ted Allen disclosing Beard’s challenges being an “out” gay man at a time when same-sex sexual activity was illegal; chefs Jonathan Waxman and Larry Forgione reflecting on Beard’s mentorship and its impact on their career; Wolfgang Puck recounting how he helped found the James Beard Foundation; Alice Waters explaining how Beard discovered Chez Panisee; chef Jeremiah Tower offering insight into Beard’s relationship with Marion Cunningham; chef Naomi Pomery demonstrating how to make the famous “James Beard’s Onion Sandwich”; and next generation chefs such as Marc Forgione, Greg Higgins, and Pomeroy discussing how Beard’s influence is still felt today. James Beard Award Foundation president Susan Ungaro and executive vice president Mitchell Davis also appear in the documentary.
Dubbed the “Dean of American Cookery” by The New York Times, Beard … spoke of the importance of localism and sustainability long before those terms had entered the culinary vernacular. He was a forerunner of the farm-to-table movement and helped create the iconic Four Seasons concept and menu. He was the first chef to host his own television show, “I Love to Eat,” which debuted on NBC in 1946, and taught not only women but men how to cook. He also had a cooking school that he operated out of his New York apartment.
Beard authored 22 cookbooks, penned a syndicated newspaper column and wrote countless magazine articles. He is credited with introducing Julia Child to the New York culinary scene, and he later becoming a best friend to her.

The 32nd Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony—which took place April 7, 2017, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York—featured several on-stage reunions for inductees such as Journey, Yes and Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), which have all had numerous lineup changes over the years. Highlights of the show will be televised in a special that premieres on HBO on April 29, 2017, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. An exhibit for the 2017 inductees went on display March 31 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. More than 900 voters picked inductees, according to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Artists are eligible for inclusion 25 years after the release of their first recording.
Here’s a rundown of the ceremony:
ELO
Band members inducted: Jeff Lynne, Bev Bevan, Roy Wood, Richard Tandy. (Tandy and Bevan did not attend the ceremony for reasons that have not been publicly disclosed.)
Inducted by: Dhani Harrison, son of George Harrison. ELO leader Jeff Lynne worked with George Harrison several times as a producer and as a fellow member of the Traveling Wilburys.
Songs performed: “Roll Over Beethoven,” “Evil Woman,” “Mr. Blue Sky”
One of ELO’s earliest hits was the band’s 1972 cover version of Chuck Berry’s “Roll Over Beethoven,” so it was fitting that the band played the song as a tribute to Berry who died on March 18, 2017, at the age of 90. Lynne accepted the induction award on stage with ELO co-founder Roy Wood, who quit the band in 1972, a year after the band’s first album was released. Wood and Lynne have not appeared on stage together in decades. Wood, however, did not perform at the ceremony.
Lynne has been recording and touring as the leader of Jeff Lynne’s ELO since 2014. Tandy is a member of Jeff Lynne’s ELO, while Bevan formed the spinoff band ELO Part II in the 1980s, after ELO’s most successful lineup disbanded. ELO has been revived off and on over the years; there was a short-lived revival in 2001 and the group was revived again in 2014, with Lynne and Tandy as the only original members.
Joan Baez
Inducted by: Jackson Browne
Songs performed: “Swing Low Sweet Chariot,” “Deportee” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” For the latter two songs, Baez was joined on stage by Mary Chapin Carpenter and Indigo Girls guitarist Amy Ray.
Yes
Members inducted: Jon Anderson, Bill Bruford, Steve Howe, Tony Kaye, Trevor Rabin, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman, Alan White
Inducted by: Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush, a band heavily influenced by Yes’ brand of progressive rock.
Songs performed: “Owner of a Lonely Heart,” “Roundabout.” Yes was joined on stage for the performance by former lead singer Anderson and Rush’s Lee.
Tupac Shakur
Inducted by: Snoop Dogg, who used to be on the same record label as Shakur, who was murdered in 1996.
Songs performed: Several artists did a tribute medley of Shakur songs. Alicia Keys performed “I Ain’t Mad Atcha.” “Dear Mama” and “Changes,” while Snoop Dogg and YG performed “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.” Treach of Naughty by Nature then did “Hail Mary,” while T.I. performed “Keep Ya Head Up.”
Journey
Band members inducted: Steve Perry, Neal Schon, Gregg Rolie, Ross Valory, Aynsley Dunbar, Steve Smith, Jonathan Cain. All of them attended the ceremony.
Inducted by: Pat Monahan, lead singer of Train, another successful rock band from San Francisco.
Ex-Journey singer Perry, who left the band in 1987, gave an emotional speech, in which he thanked the fans: “Speaking of fans, you’re the one who put us here. You’re the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.” Perry did not perform with Journey at the ceremony, but former Journey keyboardist Rolie joined the band on stage for “Lights,” which Journey dedicated to Perry. Journey’s current lineup consists of lead singer Arnel Pineda, guitarist Schon, keyboardist Cain, bassist Valory and drummer Smith.
Nile Rodgers
Inducted by: Pharrell Williams, who worked with Rodgers on the Daft Punk album “Random Access Memories.”
Rodgers, a Grammy-winning producer and founder of Chic, was given the Award for Musical Excellence. The rest of the artists were inducted in the Performers category.
Prince tribute
Prince died on April 21, 2016, 12 days after the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony that year. A tribute to Prince was done for the 2017 ceremony. Lenny Kravitz performed the Prince songs “When Doves Cry” and “The Cross.”
Pearl Jam
Members inducted: Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament, Matt Cameron, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, Dave Krusen. All of them attended the ceremony.
Inducted by: David Letterman, who substituted for the originally announced presenter Neil Young.
Songs performed: “Alive,” “Better Man,” “Given to Fly,” “Rockin’ in the Free World.” Former Pearl Jam drummer Krusen joined Pearl Jam on stage to perform “Alive.” For “Rockin’ in the Free World,” Pearl Jam was joined on stage Yes’ Trevor Rabin; Rush’s Lee, Lifeson and Neil Peart; and Journey’s Schon and Cain.
Investigation Discovery (ID) has announced that its second annual IDCon, an event for ID fans, will take place May 20, 2017, at the Altman Building in New York City. The theme of the event is “Notorious Headlines.” Unlike the first IDCon, which was free to all attendees, the 2017 edition will be selling tickets at $40 each. Tickets go on sale at EventBrite on April 7, 2017, at 9 a.m. Eastern Time. According to ID, all proceeds for IDCon will be donated to New York’s Silver Shield Foundation, an organization which provides educational support to families of firefighters and police officers killed in the line of duty.
ID show hosts Paula Zahn, Chris Hansen, Joe Kenda and Garry McFadden (who were all at IDCon in 2016) will return to the event in 2017. ID hosts Maria Elena Salinas, Rod Demery and members of the “People Magazine Investigates” team will make their first appearances at IDCon this year. More talent appearances are expected to be announced.
In a statement, Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel and Destination America group president Henry Schleiff commented: “IDCon was created as a thank you to our passionate fans, and our inaugural IDCon last year just ‘killed,’ selling out in less than eight hours with more than 7,000 people on the waitlist! Our self-proclaimed ‘ID Addicts’ have now made ID the #1 network for women, so we are particularly excited this year to deliver these superfans this unique opportunity to go behind the scenes and meet their favorite ID stars.”
The event, which is expected to sell out quickly to the approximate maximum of 300 people, will once again feature panel discussions, immersive experiences and meet-and-greet opportunities with ID stars. On April 10, 2017, ID will also launch a sweepstakes for a lucky fan to win a trip for two to IDCon.

While fan favorites like Best Kiss, Best Hero, Best Villain and more remain, MTV has collapsed the divide between film, television and streaming series, instead nominating the best performances no matter the screen. Also for the first time, the former Best Actor and Best Actress categories have been replaced with non-gendered Best Actor in a Movie and Best Actor in a Show.
Among the most iconic categories, Best Fight has been modernized to Best Fight the System reflecting the audience’s increasing awareness and activism around broader social justice issues. In addition, MTV is introducing new and timely categories including: Best American Story, awarded to the show or film that showcases America at its most open and diverse; Tearjerker, awarded to the scene that most illuminates the emotional connection people feel to characters; Best Host, highlighting the cross-section of personalities speaking to young people today; Best Reality Competition and Next Generation. Additional categories will be revealed closer to the show.
