Hallmark Channel hosts the nation’s most beloved rescue pet adoption event of the year when “Kitten Bowl VI” premieres exclusively on, Sunday, February 3, 2019 (2 p.m. ET/PT). “Kitten Bowl” returns after a successful run at Super Bowl Live in Minneapolis in 2018 and will feature kittens rescued from across the country, all of whom will be vying for the National Championship of Feline Football trophy. The 2019 game also marks a milestone of more than 25,000 shelter pet adoptions since “Kitten Bowl” premiered in 2014.
The shelter pet adoption effort around “Kitten Bowl” began with five shelter partners five years ago. Through partnership with North Shore Animal League America, “Kitten Bowl” neighborhood shelter partners grew to 500 and will exceed that number in 2019. During “Kitten Bowl” weekend, shelter partners of North Shore Animal League America show clips from the show while showcasing beautiful animals from local areas in need of loving, forever homes. Many shelters will give away Hallmark Channel’s coveted “Kitten Bowl” trading card packs and the five shelters who adopt the most animals during the adoption event will receive cash grants. The “Kitten Bowl” adoption event runs from February 2-February 16.
TV personality, author and animal advocate Beth Stern returns as host for this year’s event from Hallmark Channel Stadium. Stern embodies the spirit of adoption in her everyday life, having fostered countless animals in need. Stern’s tireless year-round efforts to find homes for animals makes her a synergistic fit to lead the charge for “Kitten Bowl VI.”
On the day of the big game, Stern is joined by Dean Cain and former NFL player Rodney Peete for all the play-by-play action along with commentary by former NFL running back Rashad Jennings and fourtime Pro Bowl quarterback Boomer Esiason, making “Kitten Bowl VI” the MUST SEE event on the day of the big game.

Hallmark Channel announces the first-ever annual “Cat Bowl,” part of the network’s core philanthropic effort ADOPTION EVER AFTER, which uses entertainment programming to showcase animals available for adoption in neighborhoods all across America, is set to premiere exclusively on the network, Saturday, February 2, 2019 (10 p.m. ET/PT). “Cat Bowl” is a companion program to the network’s storied pet franchise, “Kitten Bowl,” the first animal competition on television to create awareness for the plight of homeless animals and the joys that adopted pets bring to our lives. The “Kitten Bowl” franchise is responsible for the adoption of more than 25,000 shelter pet adoptions over five years through partnership with North Shore Animal League America and its shelter partners across the country.
“Cat Bowl” will showcase adorable and adoptable adult ‘cat-letes’ as they compete on the gridiron for a special place in viewers hearts. Inspirational stories of senior and special needs cats will highlight the special event. During each year’s broadcast of “Kitten Bowl,” awareness for pet adoption rises dramatically. With four prizes, including Best Picture, Alfonso Cuarón’s Spanish-language film “Roma” was the top winner at the 24th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards, which were presented at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, on January 13, 2019. The CW network had the U.S. telecast of the show, which was hosted by Taye Diggs. The awards are voted for by the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association. Cuarón is also the director, writer, cinematographer, as well as one of the editors and producers of Netflix’s “Roma,” which is inspired by his childhood in Mexico and the housekeeper/nanny who helped raise him and his siblings. It’s the first time that a film not in the English language and a film from a streaming service has won Best Picture at the Critics’ Choice Awards. In addition to Best Picture, “Roma” won the Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Foreign Language Film. The victories weren’t too surprising, since “Roma” has been named Best Picture of 2018 at most of the U.S.-based critics associations.
What was surprising at the 2019 Critics’ Choice Awards were ties in two categories: Best Actress in Limited Series or Movie Made for Television, which went to Amy Adams of “Sharp Objects” and Patricia Arquette of “Escape at Dannemora.” Adams insisted that Arquette join her on stage so they could do a joint acceptance speech. The other tie occurred for Best Actress, which went to Glenn Close of “The Wife” and Lady Gaga of “A Star Is Born,” who gave separate acceptance speeches. Lady Gaga was especially emotional, as she tearfully dedicated her award to people affected by addiction, and said in her speech that the real star of “A Star Is Born” are “bravery and perseverance.” Lady Gaga was also one of the winners of the first award given at the ceremony: Best Song, which went to “Shallow” from “A Star Is Born,” a song she co-wrote for the movie.
“The Favourite,” which went into the ceremony with the most nominations (14), ended up winning just two prizes: Best Acting Ensemble and Best Actress in a Comedy (for Olivia Colman). “The Favourite” cast did not attend the show because they were out of the country. The superhero flick “Black Panther,” which had 12 nods, ended up winning three Critics’ Choice Awards: Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.
“Vice,” the dark comedy about former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, went into the ceremony with nine nominations and won three prizes: Christian Bale, who plays Cheney in “Vice,” was named Best Actor, as well as Best Actor in a Comedy. “Vice” also won the award for Best Hair and Makeup. Meanwhile, “Crazy Rich Asians” won Best Comedy; Mahershala Ali of “Green Book” won Best Supporting Actor; and Regina King of “If Beale Street Could Talk” won Best Supporting Actress. Movies that had several nominations but ultimately didn’t win any Critics’ Choice Awards were “BlacKkKlansman,” “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Mary Poppins Returns.”
In the TV categories, “The Americans” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” triumphed with the most awards (three each). “The Americans” won Best Drama Series; Best Actor in a Drama Series (for Matthew Rhys, who did not attend the award show); Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (for Noah Emmerich). “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” won for Best Comedy Series; Best Actress in a Comedy Series ( for Rachel Brosnahan); and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (for Alex Borstein), all repeating the same awards at the 2018 Emmy Awards.
“The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” won two Critics’ Choice Awards: Best Limited Series and Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television (for Darren Criss), which were also two of the numerous Emmy Awards won by the series. Other two-time Critics’ Choice Award winners in the TV categories were “Sharp Objects” and “Barry.” “Sharp Objects” claimed victories for Adams and Patricia Clarkson, who was named Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television. Repeating their wins at the 2018 Emmy Awards, Bill Hader of “Barry” won Best Actor in a Comedy Series, while Henry Winkler of “Barry” won Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Hader and Winkler did not attend the Critics’ Choice Awards. Sandra Oh of “Killing Eve” was named Best Actress in a Drama Series, repeating her 2019 Golden Globe win. Meanwhile, previous Critics’ Choice Award winners “Atlanta” and “The Handmaid’s Tale” were completely shut out and didn’t win any awards this year.
Special non-competitive awards given at the ceremony included the #SeeHer Award (a prize for an actress who plays inspiring characters), which went to Claire Foy this year. There was also the Creative Achievement Award, which went to Chuck Lorre, the creator/executive producer of numerous hit TV series such as “The Big Bang Theory,” “The Kominsky Method” and “Two and a Half Men.”

iHeartMedia and Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) announced today the nominees for the 2019iHeartRadio Music Awards airing Thursday, March 14 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX, live from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The event also will be broadcast on iHeartMedia radio stations nationwide and iHeartRadio, the all-in-one digital music, podcast, on demand and live-streaming radio service.
Now in its sixth year, the iHeartRadio Music Awards is a star-studded event celebrating the most-played artists and songs on iHeartRadio stations and the iHeartRadio app throughout 2018, while also offering a preview of the upcoming hits of 2019. The 2019 telecast will feature live performances from today’s superstar performers, once-in-a-lifetime artist collaborations, celebrity guest appearances and live award presentations in multiple categories. Since the Awards’ inception in 2013, the show has included live performances and appearances by such superstar artists as Bon Jovi, Maroon 5, Camila Cabello, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Big Sean, Rihanna, Sam Smith, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Blake Shelton, Pharrell, Pitbull, Justin Bieber and many others.

In addition to being a compelling celebration of music and artists, the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards will again celebrate the fans, giving iHeartRadio listeners the opportunity to decide winners in several new and established categories. Fan voting will determine this year’s Best Fan Army presented by Taco Bell, Best Lyrics,Best Cover Song, Best Music Video, the Social Star Award, Best Solo Breakout, Cutest Musician’s Pet and the first-ever Song That Left Us Shook and Favorite Tour Photographer awards.
Social voting begins today, January 9, and will close on March 7. Fans can vote on Twitter using the appropriate category and nominee hashtags or by visiting iHeartRadio.com/awards.
Ranking as one of the most talked-about television events in social media this past year, the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards garnered more than 216 billion social media impressions in the U.S. alone. It also proved its strength on individual platforms, such as Twitter, where the official hashtag of the evening, #iHeartAwards2018, trended #1 on Twitter worldwide and in the U.S. in more than 30 cities.
Among the many winners of the 2018 Awards were Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” for Song of the Year, Taylor Swift for Female Artist of the Year, Ed Sheeran for Male Artist of the Year, Cardi B for Best New Artist, Maroon 5 for Best Duo/Group of the Year and U2 for Best Tour. Chance the Rapper received the most prestigious award of the evening – the 2018 iHeartRadio Innovator Award – for his groundbreaking accomplishments in the music industry and his unsurpassable contributions to social causes. In addition, L’Oréal Paris and iHeartRadio presented Camila Cabello with the first-ever Fangirls Award, which recognizes a female artist who has pushed boundaries with her music and message, while inspiring fans around the globe. And Bon Jovi received the first-ever iHeartRadio Icon Award for their global impact on pop culture, longevity and continued relevance as a touring and radio force with a loyal fan base worldwide.
This year’s awards will feature a broad array of categories, including Female Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Best Duo/Group of the Year and individual winners for Album of the Year in music’s biggest genres, including Pop, Country, Alternative Rock, Rock, Dance, Hip-Hop, R&B, Latin and Regional Mexican formats. For the third year, the 2019 Best New Artist awards will be grouped by music format, and format winners will then become finalists for the top title of Best New Artist. With 12 nominations, the period dramedy “The Favourite” is the leading contender for the 72nd annual British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards, which will be presented at Royal Albert Hall in London on February 10, 2019. BBC America will have the U.S. telecast of the show. Joanna Lumley is hosting the show for the second consecutive year. Other films to receive several nominations include “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “First Man,” “A Star Is Born” and “Roma,” which garnered seven nods each. “Vice” received six nominations, while “BlacKkKlansman” got five nods. “Green Book” and “Cold War” received four nominations each. Three nominations each went to “Can You Ever Forgive Me?,” “Mary Poppins Returns,” “Mary Queen of Scots” and “Stan & Ollie.” Eligible movies were those released in the United Kingdom in 2018.
“The Favourite” is the only movie to receive a nomination for Best Film and Outstanding British Film at the 2019 BAFTAs. In the Best Film category, “The Favourite” is up against “BlacKkKlansman,” “Green Book,” “Roma” and “A Star Is Born.” In the category of Outstanding British Film, “The Favourite” is competing against “Beast,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “McQueen,” “Stan & Ollie” and “You Were Never Really Here.”
Snubs and Surprises

Regina King, who has been winning several awards for her supporting role in “If Beale Street Could Talk,” was shut out of the BAFTA race this year. And despite the big push for “Black Panther” to get several nominations at award shows, the superhero movie was ultimately snubbed at the BAFTAs except for one category: Best Special Visual Effects. “Mary Poppins Returns” is a critically acclaimed hit, but didn’t make the cut in two categories that some people predicted the movie would get BAFTA nominations: Best Film and Best Actress (for Emily Blunt). And the documentary “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?,” which has been winning most of the documentary awards this year, failed to get a BAFTA nomination for Best Documentary, probably because documentary subject Fred Rogers and his American TV show “Mr. Rogers Neighborhood” are not well-known in British culture.
At other major award shows, the Steve McQueen-directed “Widows” has been largely overlooked for nominations, but Viola Davis did get a surprise BAFTA nomination for her leading role in the film. Another big surprise was Paweł Pawlikowski getting a Best Director nomination for his Polish-language film “Cold War,” even though the movie wasn’t nominated for Best Film. He likely edged out director Peter Farrelly, who is the only director at this year’s BAFTAs whose movie (“Green Book”) was nominated for Best Film but didn’t get a Best Director nod.
Noteable Milestones

Alfonso Cuarón achieved a major BAFTA milestone by being the first person to receive six BAFTA nominations in a single year. Cuarón, who directed the Spanish-language “Roma” (which is based on his childhood growing up in Mexico City), is also the movie’s cinematographer, screenwriter and one of the film’s producers and editors. Therefore, Cuarón is nominated in six of “Roma’s” seven BAFTA categories: Best Film, Best Film Not in the English Language, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Editing.
Bradley Cooper is the first director to have five BAFTA nominations in one year for a directorial debut. Cooper made his directorial debut with the 2018 remake of “A Star Is Born,” and he not only directed and starred in “A Star Is Born,” but he is also one of the movie’s producers, screenwriters and songwriters. Cooper’s “A Star Is Born” BAFTA nods are for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Leading Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Music.
Meanwhile, Spike Lee, who has been making critically acclaimed movies since the 1980s, finally received his first BAFTA nominations this year, for “BlacKkKlansman.” As the film’s director and as one of the movie’s producers and screenwriters, he’s nominated for Best Director, Best Film and Best Adapted Screenplay. Although these are Lee’s first BAFTA nominations, he was given a special, non-competitive BAFTA Award in 2002.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Green Book” were the top movie winners at the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which took place at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, on January 6, 2019. NBC had the U.S. telecast of the 2019 Golden Globe Awards, which was hosted by Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh. Dick Clark Productions produced the show. The Golden Globe Awards are voted for by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Eligible movies were those with U.S. release dates in 2018, while eligible TV shows were those that televised new episodes in the U.S. in 2018.
“Bohemian Rhapsody,” the official biopic of rock band Queen and its lead singer Freddie Mercury, won the two prizes for which it was nominated: Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama (for Rami Malek, who played Mercury). The victories for “Bohemian Rhapsody” no doubt surprised the many pundits who predicted that the 2018 remake of “A Star Is Born” and its leading actor Bradley Cooper would take those prizes.
Meanwhile, “Green Book,” which told the true story of an unlikely friendship that developed in 1962 between highly educated pianist Don Shirley and blue-collar driver Tony “Lip” Vallelonga, won the most prizes (three) at the 2019 Golden Globes: Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy; Best Supporting Actor (for Mahershala Ali, who plays Shirley); and Best Screenplay.
Other multiple winners, with two prizes each, were the Spanish-language drama “Roma”; the miniseries “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story”; and the comedy series “The Kominsky Method.” As expected, the Alfonso Cuarón-directed“Roma” won the prizes for Best Director and Best Foreign Language Film.
Besides “Bohemian Rhapsody” taking the top movie drama prize, the other big surprise win in the movie categories was Glenn Close of “The Wife,” who won Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, instead of the widely predicted Lady Gaga of the 2018 remake of “A Star Is Born.” In the end, 2018’s “A Star Is Born” won just one Golden Globe: Best Original Song, for “Shallow,” which was co-written by Lady Gaga. “Vice,” which went into the ceremony with the most nominations (six), ultimately won just one Golden Globe: Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, which went to Christian Bale for his portrayal of former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney. Bale had been widely predicted to win the award. Another widely predicted victory was Olivia Colman of “The Favourite,” who won for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
In the TV categories, first-time Golden Globe winner Richard Madden of “Bodyguard” was a surprise win for Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama, instead of the Matthew Rhys of “The Americans,” who won an Emmy for the show’s final season. However, “The Americans” did win the prize for Best Television Series – Drama, as expected. For the prize of Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, “The Kominsky Method” triumphed over “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” the category’s previous Golden Globe winner. However, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Rachel Brosnahan repeated her Golden Globe win from 2018 to take the prize again for Best Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Meanwhile, Michael Douglas of “The Kominsky Method” won the award for Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy. “The Kominsky Method” debuted in the second half of 2018, and will be eligible for the Emmy Awards for the first time in 2019.
“The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” which won several Emmys in 2018, was the leading TV nominee going into the Golden Globes, with four nominations. As expected, the two Golden Globes it won were for Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, while Darren Criss (who played serial killer Andrew Cunanan) won for Best Actor in a Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. Golden Globes co-host Oh of “Killing Eve” won the prize for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama.
In the non-competitive categories, Jeff Bridges received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for career achievement, while Carol Burnett was the first recipient of the Carol Burnett Award, which is given for outstanding contributions to television.

The National Geographic Channel (also known as NatGeo) has taken the science-oriented talk show “Star Talk” off the air during its investigation into sexual harassment claims against “StarTalk” host Neil DeGrasse Tyson. According to Variety, two women have gone public with their accusations: “Bucknell University’s Dr. Katelyn N. Allers claimed Tyson groped her at an event in 2009, while a former assistant, Ashley Watson, said Tyson made repeated inappropriate sexual advances toward her.” In addition, musician Tchiya Amet claims that Tyson raped her in the 1980s when they were both graduate students.
NatGeo, which is owned by Fox, announced in November 2018 that it was investigating the allegations. The fifth season of “StarTalk” aired three episodes, mostly recently on November 26, 2018. A NatGeo rep told Variety: “In order to allow the investigation to occur unimpeded we chose to hold new episodes of ‘StarTalk’ until it is complete. We expect that to happen in the next few weeks at which time we’ll make a final decision.” Tyson is also the host of “Cosmos: Possible Worlds,” which was set to premiere on Fox on March 3, 2019, and on NatGeo on March 4, 2019. The networks have not yet announced if “Cosmos: Possible Worlds” will be televised as planned.
Tyson, who has denied the allegations, is one of numerous celebrities who’ve been accused of sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement that arose during late 2017, when once-powerful public figures in media and entertainment (such as Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Louis C.K., Russell Simmons, Charlie Rose and Matt Lauer) lost their jobs after their alleged sexual misconduct acts that spanned decades were exposed by the news media. Weinstein is the only one who has been arrested for sexual assault (he is pleading not guilty), and Spacey is expected to be arrested and charged with sexual assault sometime in January 2019.
In a statement on his Facebook account, Tyson commented: “In any claim, evidence matters. Evidence always matters. But what happens when it’s just one person’s word against another’s, and the stories don’t agree? That’s when people tend to pass judgment on who is more credible than whom. And that’s when an impartial investigation can best serve the truth – and would have my full cooperation to do so.”
March 15, 2019 UPDATE: Fox and NatGeo have issued this joint statement: “The investigation is complete, and we are moving forward with both ‘StarTalk’ and ‘Cosmos.’ ‘StarTalk’ will return to the air with the remaining 13 episodes in April on National Geographic, and both Fox and National Geographic are committed to finding an air date for ‘Cosmos.’ There will be no further comment.”
November 7, 2019 UPDATE:Indiewire has reported that “Cosmos: Possible Words” will premiere on March 9, 2020. According to Indiewire, the show “will venture through both time and space, starting at the dawn of the universe and moving to a futuristic 2039 New York World’s Fair, before moving further into the future.” The cast of “Cosmos: Possible Worlds” will include Seth MacFarlane (who’s an executive producer of the show) as President Harry Truman, Patrick Stewart as astronomer William Herschel, Viggo Mortensen as Soviet plant geneticist Nikolai Vavilov, and Judd Hirsch as atomic-bomb creator Robert Oppenheimer.

Watching a New Year’s Eve special on TV is a tradition for millions of people around the world. After taking a break from a New Year’s Eve Special in 2017, NBC is back with its star-studded party in New York City’s Times Square. Here’s what is planned for the four biggest New Year’s TV specials in the United States:
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2019

Celebrating its 47th year, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” (which is produced by Dick Clark Productions and airs in the U.S. on ABC) is still the most high-profile televised New Year’s Eve event. Mariah Carey headlined the show from New York City’s Times Square in 2018 and 2017. In 2018, another Grammy-winning diva—Christina Aguilera—is taking the headlining spot. Ryan Seacrest will once again host the show, which begins airing from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET, followed by 11:30 p.m. to 2:13 a.m. ET. Jenny McCarthy will provide on-site reporting. Other performers in Times Square include Bastille, Dan + Shay and New Kids on the Block. Airing just after midnight Eastern Time, Post Malone will perform from a stop on his current tour in Brooklyn, New York, marking the first television performance of the new year. Meanwhile, the special has partnered with YouTube Music for the first time this year for cross-promotional programming.
Ciara will once again host the Los Angeles segments of the show that will feature performances that were mostly previously recorded. Artists in the show’s Los Angeles segments will include Lauren Alaina, Kelsea Ballerini, Bazzi, Kane Brown, Camila Cabello, The Chainsmokers, Ciara, Foster the People, Halsey, Dua Lipa, Ella Mai, Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth and Weezer, as well as collaborations from Brown featuring Alaina; Macklemore with Skylar Grey; and The Chainsmokers featuring Ballerini.

After televising its New Year’s Eve show (hosted by Pitbull) in Miami from 2014 to 2016, Fox changed locations and hosts in 2017, with the show now taking place at New York City’s Times Square with comedian/talk-show host Steve Harvey and former E! News personality Maria Menounous. This year, Harvey and Menounous return to co-host the show, which airs on Fox from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET and 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET live; CT/MT/PT tape-delayed. Performers will include Sting, Snoop Dogg, Robin Thicke, Florence + the Machine, Jason Aldean, Juanes and Why Don’t We. Additionally, the special will include celebrity cameo appearances by comedians Ken Jeong and Kenan Thompson, as well as “Fox NFL Sunday” commentators Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan and Jimmy Johnson. “Fox’s New Year’s Eve With Steve Harvey: Live From Times Square” is produced by IMG Original Content and Done + Dusted. Guy Carrington, Katy Mullan, Mike Antinoro, Dave Chamberlin and Orly Anderson serve as executive producers; and Eddie Delbridge serves as co-executive producer. IMG also produces Harvey’s self-titled talk show, as well as the Miss Universe Pageant and “It’s Showtime at the Apollo,” which have been hosted by Harvey over the past several years.

Stars from NBC’s “The Voice” are all over “NBC’s New Year’s Eve” special, which begins airing at 10 p.m. ET from New York City’s Times Square. Not only is “The Voice” host Carson Daly hosting the New Year’s Eve show (with Chrissy Teigen and assistance from Leslie Jones), but “The Voice” coaches Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and John Legend are also performing on the special. Other performers include Jennifer Lopez, Bebe Rexha, Diana Ross and Andy Grammer. Keith Urban and Brett Young will perform at Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight: New Year’s Eve in Nashville. “NBC Nightly News” and “Dateline NBC” anchor Lester Holt will also appear on stage before the iconic ball drop. “NBC’s New Year’s Eve” will be televised from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET, followed by the New Year’s countdown segment 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET. “NBC’s New Year’s Eve” is executive produced by Daly, Teigen and John Irwin through NBCUniversal Television Studio and Irwin Entertainment. It is co-executive produced by Casey Spira.
New Year’s Eve Live With Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen

For the second year in a row, longtime friends Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen will co-host CNN’s New Year’s Eve celebration, which begins at 8 p.m. ET. CNN’s 11th annual New Year’s Eve Show, which is telecast live from New York City’s Times Square has a more star-studded lineup this year than in previous years. Gwen Stefani is scheduled to perform from her Las Vegas residency, while Keith Urban (who also appears on NBC’s New Year’s Eve Special), Dave Chappelle, Patti LaBelle and Jack Black also round out the show’s celebrity lineup. New Year’s Eve Live With Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen will also spotlight Broadway musicals such as “The Band’s Visit,” “Wicked,” “Tootsie” and “Come From Away.” CNN’s New Year’s Eve Show begins at 8 p.m. ET, and will end at approximately 1:05 p.m. ET. CNN anchors Don Lemon and Brooke Baldwin will host a countdown from New Orleans at 12:30 a.m. ET.In 2017, Cohen replaced Kathy Griffin, who was notoriously fired from the show in May of that year for publicly posting a photo of herself holding up a fake bloody head of President Donald Trump. Griffin and Cooper had co-hosted CNN’s New Year’s Eve Show since 2007, but the Cooper/Cohen duo brought in the show’s highest ratings so far. Cooper and Cohen have an established rapport, since they have done numerous speaking engagements together.

“NBC’s New Year’s Eve” will kick off 2019 with the biggest names in music as Jennifer Lopez and Bebe Rexha join the previously announced line-up that includes Diana Ross, Kelly Clarkson, Andy Grammer, John Legend and Blake Shelton, as well as Keith Urban and Brett Young, who will perform live from Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight: New Year’s Eve in Nashville.
In addition to the incredible musical slate, Carson Daly and Chrissy Teigen will host live from Times Square along with Leslie Jones. Lester Holt, from “NBC Nightly News” and “Dateline NBC,” will also appear on stage before the iconic ball drop.
Lopez will perform “Limitless,” the anthem from her upcoming comedy feature film, “Second Act,” which arrives in theaters Dec. 21. Rexha will perform “Imagine” in Times Square at midnight.
The special will air Monday, Dec. 31 from 10-11 p.m. ET/PT, will break for local news and return for the final countdown from 11:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m.
Prior to “NBC’S New Year’s Eve,” Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb will ring in the new year with “A Toast to 2018,” a star-studded New Year’s Eve primetime special highlighting the year’s biggest pop culture moments, videos and trends. An all-star cast of celebrities – from Michael Bublé and Ellie Kemper to Kenan Thompson and Busy Philipps – will dish on the most talked-about stories that made for an unforgettable 2018.
